Coronavirus Letter From Dr. Wilson
March 16, 2020 Dear Students, Staff, and Parents,
As promised in my recent communication concerning COVID-19, we are announcing that Fayetteville City Schools will be closed beginning today through April 3, 2020. We are hoping to resume a regular schedule on April 6, 2020. This includes a cancellation of all school and sports activities until further notice except for the following:
All faculty and staff should report to their buildings on March 23 and 24.
Every effort will be made to provide quality academic opportunities for students and we seek parent support to ensure that each child completes their assignments. This is an effort to minimize the negative academic effects that this closure may have on students.
The system will be providing a meal package containing multiple lunches per student per week until the system resumes normal schedule.
During the closure, parents and students can expect to find instructions regarding student work and meal pickups on each school’s website or other means of communication.
In these unusual times, all of us are concerned about the safety and well-being of you and your families. Please continue to be proactive in following the procedures and guidelines outlined by the CDC. Our leadership team will continue to monitor this situation and do what we feel is in the best interest of our students. We appreciate your support and cooperation while we make these difficult decisions in unchartered territory.
Yours truly,
Dr. Janine Wilson
Director, Fayetteville City Schools
