The Lincoln County Health Department offers various free testing options.
- Self-test Everlywell kits for ages 16 and older. This is a PCR test and the person collects the sample, registers their test kit online and receives results directly within 2-3 days. Specimens are sent via UPS drop off site. Available anytime between 8:00am-4:30pm
- Self-test rapid test kits for children with symptoms ages 2 years through 15 years. Test is collected by the parent/guardian and results are within 15 minutes. This is the BinaxNow. Available anytime between 8:00am-4:30pm
- Nurse collected PCR tests at the health department by appointment between 8:30am and 10:00am – 4 days a week. This may change as the need for testing decreases. These are sent off and results come back in 1-2 days.
COVID-19 vaccines for children
The health department offers Pfizer for children age 12+. The health department is expecting to offer vaccine for children 5-11 years old on or after November 3 pending final federal approval.
BOOSTERS
The health department is giving booster doses of Pfizer and no appointment is needed. Booster doses are recommended for:
- People 65 years and older, or residents 18 years and older in long-term care settings.
- People 50-64 with underlying medical conditions
- People 18-49 with underlying medical conditions depending on their individual benefits and risks
- People 18 and older at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure because of occupational risk.
Booster doses are recommended for people who received Pfizer or Moderna six months after the last dose. For people who received J&J, they may receive a booster two months after their vaccine. Please note that the same product should be used for the booster, but if that is not available (or another vaccine product is preferred) a booster with any of the authorized COVID-19 vaccines is acceptable.
The health department only offers Pfizer vaccines.
