Hobbs earns Walgreens WE Teachers Award

Ralph Askins School’s Tim Hobbs has been honored with the Walgreens WE Teachers Award, earning a gift card he will use to purchase school supplies.

Knowing that 94 percent of teachers spend more than $500 of their own money on school supplies per year, according to one study, Walgreens and the ME to WE Foundation give awards to approximately 500 teachers around the country to assist with supplies.

“I was surprised when I received an email stating that I had been nominated by someone, and based on the nomination, I had been selected as a recipient of the WE Teachers Award,” Hobbs said. “I am honored to be a recipient of this award.

“I go to work each day with one goal in mind -- that is to make a difference in a child’s life,” Hobbs said. “To me, teaching is more than a job; it’s a passion of mine.

“I am honored and thankful to the person who nominated me for this award. I’m going to pay it forward and use the award to help purchase school supplies for the 2020-2021 school year.”
