Moyers new FHS/FMS Band Director

Kayla Moyers has been named the new band director for Fayetteville High School and Fayetteville Middle School.

Moyers succeeds Don Adams, who is retiring.

Moyers is a former resident of Fayetteville where she attended Ralph Askins School before moving to north Alabama. She was involved in band from 6th grade through 12th grade at Buckhorn Middle/High School where she became passionate about music. Although primarily a flute player, she has had experience performing on oboe, clarinet, and mellophone.

After high school, she went on to continue her education by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Music Education from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from the University of Southern Mississippi.

During both her undergraduate and graduate studies, Moyers had opportunities to aid in marching band instruction, rehearse ensembles, and conduct in concerts. Ensembles she has worked with include the University of Alabama in Huntsville Wind Ensemble and the University of Southern Mississippi’s Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Concert Band, University Band, and the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band.

Moyers said she is excited to work with all of the band students at Fayetteville High School and Middle School.
