Fayetteville High School’s Jay H. Carroll, age 16, of Scouts BSA Troop 489, was awarded the prestigious Eagle Scout Award on Oct. 10 at the Howell Church of Christ.
Recipients of the Eagle Scout Award must master the scout craft and leadership skills embedded in all seven scout ranks and complete a minimum of 21 merit badges, and while a Life scout, plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to the community.
Jay chose Short Mountain Bible Camp near Woodbury for his project. He led the planning and execution of building and trail marking two hiking trails, as well as creating maps with hiking best practices for counselors to use to safely lead campers on day hikes.
Jay is a junior at FHS and also serves as Venturing BSA Council President of the Middle Tennessee Council Venturing Officer Association.
