• Parents and students,

My name is Katelyn Barnes and I am so excited to serve as the School Counselor for this upcoming school year! For the past three years, I have worked at Junior's House, where I have had the privilege of counseling and interviewing children who have experienced many forms of trauma. I have seen first-hand the resiliency, determination and creativity of children, and I am excited to meet and work with the students of FMS. I will be working with individual students, as well as leading large guidance classes and small group activities. I would love to be a help if you are ever in need, parents and child alike! Do not hesitate to ask, as I want to be a source for information, assistance and advocacy to all the children and families who attend Fayetteville Middle School.
    Thank you,
    Katelyn Barnes
  • This week is College Application and Exploration Week at FMS! It is truly never too late to learn about attending college and technical school. The students will be learning all about college and career pathways. During the morning annoucements, I will be sharing fun facts and posing a trivia question - prizes are involved! They will also be participating in dress up days regarding all things college and career. Throughout the building, there are tons of posters that discuss individual pathways that students can take depending on what they want their profession to be. They will also have activities in and out of their classrooms that will engage them in this learning process. Fifth grade will also be building on what they learned at Ralph Askins by participating in the AMAZING SHAKE. I look forward to a fun-filled week where students will celebrate and prepare for their bright futures!
