  • With over two decades of experience in education, Dr. David West has been named principal at Fayetteville Middle School.

    Dr. West comes to Fayetteville City Schools from Madison City Schools in Alabama, where he served as Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Coordinator.

    Prior to his tenure with Madison City, Dr. West served as a principal for Enterprise City Schools in Enterprise, Ala., and Dale County Schools in Ozark, Ala., as well as assistant principal for Ozark City Schools and Crenshaw County Schools in Luverne, Ala. Dr. West has been an elementary school teacher and served as an educational consultant in Alabama school systems.

    He served as a U.S. Army Military Police from 1996 until 2001 and has worked in many capacities as an MP, including Investigator, Senior Military Customs Inspector and Special Reaction Team leader. Dr. West has also worked as a private security contractor in the Middle East.

    He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education from Troy University and Master’s Degrees in both elementary education and in educational administration and leadership, also from Troy. He earned an Education Specialist degree in educational administration and leadership from Troy University and a Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership from Liberty University.

    “I’m excited that Dr. West has joined our Tiger family,” said Eric Jones, director of Fayetteville City Schools. “His leadership and example will serve to inspire our students and support our teachers. Fayetteville Middle School is in good hands.”

    Dr. West will officially begin his duties as principal on July 1.
