First Priority, formerly known as FCS (Fellowship of Christian Students), is an evangelism-focused, spiritually edifying Christian fellowship group at Fayetteville High School. We have a lot of fun spreading God’s love throughout the community both in and out of school, whether it be holding fundraisers for charity or spreading Christmas cheer by singing carols around town. But our first priority, as the name of our group implies, is spreading the good news that Jesus Christ died for sinners to all at FHS.
Group meetings are held weekly every Friday with each week being represented by a letter in the word HOPE. For example, during “H Week,” we focus on the word help and how we can help or influence our community in a Christlike way. Each week has its own letter from the word HOPE which stands for a word that is focused upon that week. It all culminates in “E Week,” where evangelism is the focal point. Someone like a youth pastor, church leader, or even a First Priority group member will give a Gospel presentation in an attempt to win lost souls to Christ.
As mentioned before, the first priority of First Priority is the gospel, and the gospel is “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Rom. 1:16 ESV). According to the Christian Bible, the Word of God given to us (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:21), all people are sinners, meaning they have violated God’s righteous Law (Psa. 14:3). This means that all people, having sinned, are condemned to eternal hell (Rom. 6:23; Rev. 20:10, 14). The only way to avoid God’s judgement is to repent (turn from) one’s sin and put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God (John 3:16; Mark 1:15; Eph. 2:8). This faith should be a radical faith, Jesus said (Matt. 16:24), which means one must be “born again,” transformed into a new creature, and given a new heart (John 3:3; 2 Cor. 5:17; Eze. 11:19). Then one is adopted into God’s church family for believers to fellowship with one another and grow in grace. Consider stopping by one Wednesday morning, and God bless!
