In addition to the CJ 3 Standards,  Students that take all three levels of Criminal Justice, and maintain an "88" or B Plus" accumulative average in Criminal Justice Studies, are eligible to receive the Criminal Justice graduation cord for graduation.  Students that accomplish this are classified as Criminal Justice Program Completers.  Students that take a minimum of two, or up to three, Criminal Justice classes, but do not have an accumulative average of "88" or "B Plus" are classified as Criminal Justice Concentrators.

Each year, one outstanding Senior will be honored with the Fayetteville High School Criminal Justice Award.  The following are considerations for being eligible for this award:  Criminal Justice Students must take all three levels of criminal justice.  Grade point average from all three levels/years of Criminal Justice Studies will be considered.  Participation on the FHS Criminal Justice Competition Team.  Participation in the FHS Criminal Justice Club.  Lastly,  the student's demonstration of good conduct and good citizenship.

III.  Class Policy:  Students are allowed to make up missed work from days of being absent.  Work will not be allowed to be made up one week from grades being due to the Administration.  The instructor will post the dates at the end of each Nine Weeks, either on the board, Google Classroom, or both.  Be mindful, that school policy states that make-up work is due within three days of returning to school, therefore the Criminal Justice policy is a matter of discretion and goodwill.  It is the student's responsibility to check with the teacher to see what work was missed or needs to be made up, upon their return to school.

IV.  Grading Policy: Test grades are 80% of the entire grade.  Homework and projects count for 20% of the entire grade.  See Student Gradebook Portal for more information.

V.  Required Materials:  Three ring binder with paper, spiral notebook, or composition book.  Writing utensils: pens or pencils.  See "Supply List" page.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASS RULES

1.  Be on time and come to class prepared: pencil/pen, paper and/or CJ Notebook. Each tardy or late to class will result in documentation and action.  See school policy regarding tardy issues.

2.  Respect others.  Do not talk when someone else is talking.

3.  Keep your hands, feet, and belongings to yourself.

4.  Respect the property of others.  If it does not belong to you, DON'T touch it.  Leave it alone.

5.  Come inside the classroom.  Sit down.  Complete your assignments.  Stay in your seat.  Bathroom usage is before class begins or after class ends. Budget your time accordingly. You will not be allowed to use the restroom the first ten minutes, nor the last ten minutes of class.  Should you need to use the restroom during class, the school tardy policy applies.

6.  Students are not allowed out of their seats without permission from the instructor.

7.  Wait to be dismissed by your instructor before leaving your seat/leaving the room.

8.  No sleeping and no appearance of sleeping in class.

9.  Backpacks, hoodies, hats, ear-buds, and headphones are to be removed upon entering the classroom and turn off music/electronic devices.   Do NOT bring blankets to class.

10. No personal grooming in class.  Do not be spraying hair spray, deodorants, perfumes, or cologne.  Personal hygiene, grooming, and application of cosmetics is to be done in a bathroom, during breaks or class clhanges.

11. No eating in the classroom and no drinks without a top.

12.  NO CELL PHONE OR ELECTRONIC DEVICE USAGE and NO USE OF ELECTRIC OUTLETS FOR CHARGING OF DEVICES. CELL PHONES SHOULD BE TURNED OFF AND PLACED IN THE CELL PHONE RACK ON THE CLOSET DOOR.  PLACE THE CELL PHONE IN THE POCKET NUMBER THAT MATCHES YOUR DESK NUMBER. The instructor may waive this rule as a reward for achievement or good behavior, or when such devices may be utilized by the students for educational exercises, curriculum, or research deemed appropriate by the instructor.

13.  As the instructor, I do not see the need in giving a grade less than "50".  Some students would not recover from a grade less than "50" and would become demoralized and give up.  Please note that in college, you get what you earn, but for now , you are in high school criminal justice class. However, in cases of cheating, plagiarism, or refusal to participate or refusal to complete an assignment or test, I will give a score of zero/"0".  At certain times of the year, I will give students access to remediation to help improve their C.J. G.P.A., but this is a privilege and not a right.

If a student has been present and has the ability to complete work or submit an assisgnment, but does not, five points will be deducted from the final test/homework grade for each school day that the assignment is late.  A grade of no lower than a "60" will be assigned if the student is late to the point of where it would have been a failing grade due to lateness, as long as the assignment is completed. Simply stated: no matter how long it takes to complete the assignment, as long as it is completed, the student may obtain a passing grade.

We cannot wait until the last week before grades are due for some students to turn in nine weeks worth of work.  Students will have ten (10) school days (TWO SCHOOL WEEKS) from the date of their last absence, to turn in missed work.  The exception to this will be the last week before grades are due.  On this particular week a student must make up work prior to grades due date.  The date that teachers must turn in grades varies and is determined by the Administration.

14.  Do not wait until the end of the week, month, nine weeks, semester, or year to ask "How can I improve my grade?".  Take advantage, daily, of the time allotted to you and STUDY, STUDY,STUDY!!!!  For your sake, if you are having a hard time or don't understand a concept, come see me and ask for help!!!  THAT IS THE REASON WHY I AM HERE AND IT IS TO HELP YOU!

• Students are expected to exhibit self-discipline and behave in a manner that is in the best interest of the student and the school. 
• Varied levels of corrective measures will be used appropriately, depending on the level of severity of a behavioral offense.
• Students will be expected to exhibit the very highest and unquestionable standard of conduct and courtesy at all times.

• DAILY CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:
• Walk from the main building directly to the portables, using the quickest/shortest route possible.
• Do not run.  Do not attempt to vault any of the fencing.
• Enter the Criminal Justice classroom quickly and quietly.
• Place your cell phone and other electronic devices (ear buds, etc) in the cell phone rack on the closet door in the pouch that has your assigned seat number.
• Locate your assigned seat number, have a seat, and get out any of your required CJ classroom materials.  Do not have any book bags or purses in the aisles between desks.
• Class starts the moment the CJ Instructor enters the room, gives instructions, or begins to take attendance.  If there is a "bell ringer" assignment or any other assignment posted, students should begin working on it at this time.  While the Instructor is taking attendance, use this time to get organized or accomplish assigned work or study for a scheduled test.
• If you need to use the restroom, sharpen a pencil, use hand sanitizer, grab a tissue, or throw away trash, this should be accomplished before class begins.
• NO FOOD is to be consumed in the classroom.  Beverages must have a "screw on" cap and the cap must be secured when not being consumed.
• NO ONE will be allowed to use the restroom during the first ten minutes of class, nor the last ten minutes of class.
• Students should raise their hand in class if they have a question or need to get out of their seat.
• Should students need to move the desks for group work, they should return their seats to their original positions, unless instructed otherwise by the Instructor.
• Students should be engaging and attentive in class.
• Students are encouraged to ask questions, if anything is not clear or difficult to understand.
• The Instructor will provide clarification, definitions, examples, and pertinent criminal justice stories in order to aid in student learning and understanding of the curriculum.
• On days involving CJ laboratory or group work, students are not to begin working until given the instructions or goal of the activity or lab.  Students must clean up all lab materials before leaving the CJ room.
• Students will wait to be dismissed by the Instructor, ESPECIALLY when a guest speaker is present, before getting up and exiting the classroom.  DO NOT get out of your seat and stand by the door while awaiting to dismiss.  The Instructor will have the administration's departure time alarm set on the Instructor's cell phone and will dismiss based on that alarm.
• If students need to use the restroom before the next class, do so before leaving the portable.
• Students will return to the main building or the next class using the same orderly procedure that brought them to the CJ portable/classroom.
