Children have many needs. Please read through these and keep them in mind when

dealing with your child.

 

Give Your Child

 

...time to think about things he/she has seen, heard, and experienced. Answer questions

directly and simply. Explain reasons for any necessary discipline.

 

...many opportunities to explore, to see surroundings in a new way, to increase learning.

Take walks. Observe colors, shapes, sounds, and motions.

 

...a time to share books, stories, and what has been learned in school. Read to your

child and have your child read and tell stories to you. Together, enjoy the excitement,

feelings, and ideas found in books.

 

...a sense of responsibility and of achievement. Help your child to complete simple

tasks and to realize these tasks contribute to the family group.

 

...time to help with family work responsibilities. Provide ways to have new experiences

and learn from new tasks. Make sure tasks are within your child’s ability.

 

...an opportunity to play with you as well as to play alone. Enjoy games and activities

together. Help your child to be a good sport and engage in fair play.

 

...a time to look at books, magazines, and pictures all alone.Children can read pictures.
