2008-2009
We are using the Reading Milestones program by Pro-Ed for Kindergarten, 1st,
2nd and 3rd Grades. This reading series attempts to deal
with some of the problems of the beginning reading stages. The program presents
a systematic exposure to and reinforcement of text-based variables such as
vocabulary, syntax, and figurative language. The students immediately
experience success making reading fun. Starting with Red Book 3 and continuing
through Green Book 4, students may take Accelerated Reader tests from the
stories they read.
This year, we are pairing the Reading Milestones program with another
highly successful program. We began using the S.P.I.R.E. (Specialized Program Individualizing
Language Arts
Our language arts will be taken from Grammar and Punctuation 1, 2, 3 which is correlated to state
standards. This series is from Evan-Moor. Students work at their own pace, so
you may email me or call me at 433-5311 (school) or 433-0659 (home) for
specific assignments.
Math
First, Second and Third graders will be
instructed from a highly visual and hands-on program entitled Math-U-See. We will progress through
Primer, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta levels to learn all the
skills necessary to be successful in math. Students work at their own pace, so

specific assignments.
