Welcome to the Ralph Askins Elementary School Library. With over 12,000 books, 8 computers, full Follett automation and connection to the Internet, our library is a wonderful world in which to learn. Pre-Kindergarten through 3^rd graders attend library classes and also have designated times in which they may return to the library for extra research time to work on class projects. Our students can be found discovering books and the joy of storytelling on our magic carpet. They also participate in activities selected to introduce and reinforce library skills.

Latest Library News

Our Read Across America celebration, March 3-5, proved to be very successful thanks to lots and lots of teachers, students, and community friends. To begin our celebration, we had Ms. Gail Randolph and Mr. Jim Neal from Keep Fayetteville and Lincoln County Beautiful come read Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax and give us tips on how to care for our Earth. Our friends from First National Bank donated cupcakes to everyone to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s 104^th birthday, and we ate green eggs and ham prepared by our cafeteria ladies. What a treat when Mr. Tommy Ward and Mr. Eugene Ham entertained us with their storytelling. Mrs. Judy Toon brought several wonderful sixth grade friends over from FIS who read some excellent stories to pre-k through second grade. Also, some of our third graders visited Lincoln Skill Care Center and shared stories with the patients. We also had lots of parents, retired teachers, and other community friends share stories with different grade levels throughout the week. From top hats to pajamas to wacky clothing, what a great time we had honoring Dr. Seuss’s memory and celebrating the joys of reading. A big thank you to everyone who helped make reading such fun!!!!!!
