District Parent Involvement Plan

The Parent Involvement Plan is designed to help schools carry out the goals and objectives of the Fayetteville City Board of Education's Parent Involvement Policy. Each school is responsible for incorporating these goals in order to best serve the parents of their students.

Goals of the Parent Involvement Plan:

1. Provide activities and procedures for the involvement of parents

a. Hold an annual open house/parent night during the first six weeks of school

b. Provide a reception area with food and drink during parent/teacher conferences

c. Send home notification to parents in their native language

d. Present a school program involving students and/or student work for parents to attend

e. Host an Awards Day program

2. Tennessee Comprehensive System-Wide Planning Process

a. When the Tennessee Comprehensive System-Wide Planning Process is complete, the Fayetteville City School System's Parent Involvement Plan will be incorporated.

 

3. Course of Study

a. The Library at the individual schools will be available for parents to view their child's text books upon request.

b. There will be links to all the adopted book series as well as a link to the state's standards on the school system's website.

c. Parent/teacher conferences will be held bi-annually and during this meeting, parents can find out what their child is studying.

d. An IEP will be designed for a child's course of study for Special Education students.

e. A parent meeting will be held to determine the child's course of study for 504 students.

 

4. Homework, Attendance and Discipline

a. Each school has a procedure for letting the parents know daily homework assignments.

b. Progress reports will be sent home every 3 weeks.

c. A note will be sent to the parents of any student accumulating 5 unexcused absences.

d. Each school will offer incentives for high attendance as well as good behavior.

e. Parents are given a copy of the Code of Behavior and Discipline. This is included in the Student Handbook and must be read and signed by the parent or guardian yearly.

 

5. Parent Plan Approval

a. All parents are welcome to submit comments about the Parent Plan to the Fayetteville City Board of Education.

 

6. Participation of All Parents

a. All schools follow IDEA rules and regulations in regard to parents with disabilities.

b. Non-English speaking parents will be provided with communications in their native language.

c. Parents of migratory students will be provided the same opportunities of other parents.

 

7. Advisory Council

a. An Advisory Council shall be appointed to assess the parent involvement programs.

 

8. Title I

a. All Title I schools will comply with the No Child Left Behind Act. All other schools will make every effort to comply.
