"When Not In Use, Turn Off The Juice"

Fayetteville High School & Fayetteville Middle School are

GREEN SCHOOLS

and

This is how we did it!!!

1) Fayetteville High School and Fayetteville Middle School Green Teams are sponsored by Mrs. Linda Dorris and Mr. Tim Hobbs.

2) Implemented several things this year to save energy:

1. New light bulbs installed.

2. New windows 2 years ago with proper tint.

3. Principal assisted teachers and falculty in turning off light switches in rooms.

4. Students monitor turning off bathroom lights.

5. Technology Dept. assisted us by setting all computer monitors to

"go to sleep" after 10 minutes of no use.

6. Technology Dept. has replaced CRT monitors with low power flat screens.

7. Technology Dept. has installed splitter boxes to feed 4 monitors from one

computer tower.

3) Some of our future goals are to:

1. Alter lighting in the Art classroom to more efficiently benefit the Art class.

2. Evaluate motion sensor lighting in bathrooms, classrooms, and some low

low traffic areas of the school.

Since our schools took the TEAM APPROACH and through the support of our students, schools, and community, we have drastically lowered energy costs in our schools:

Sept - Nov 2010, dollars predicted to be used based on history - $20,658

Sept - Nov 2010, actual dollars spent while conserving - $18,911

This shows a savings of $1,747 due in large part to our attention to saving energy.
