GOLF TEAM - SPRING 2008
I.
REQUIREMENTS
(1) Students must obtain a physical examination
to play golf. If the student has played
on any school team and has had a physical in the last year all the student must
do is get the coach a copy.
(2) TSSAA rules state that
a student must pass five subjects the previous semester to play on an athletic
team. The coach’s rule (Mr. Ellett’s rule) is that you also must have a semester grade
point average of 80 or above and maintain that average while on the golf
team.
(3) Anyone missing
two practices (unexcused) will be dismissed from the golf team. Golf is a school sport; and if you
choose to play golf on the school team, you must give it priority over any
other outside activity. We only
practice twice a week, so every effort should be made to get to practice. I am looking for 100% effort on the part of
all golf team members.
(4) If a student
misses a practice (excused), he must play a qualifying round on his own to be
eligible to play in the next match.
(5) Students must
furnish the golf coach with the name of the insurance company and the policy
number of their medical insurance coverage.
II.
RULES WHILE ON THE GOLF COURSE
(1) Students should
study golf etiquette (rule book) carefully and govern their play and conduct
accordingly, play
the game by the rules, without exception!
(2) School rules also
apply on the golf course.
(3) All players are
required to wear the appropriate clothes while on the course. No wild colors or outrageous fashions
can be worn. No short-shorts allowed,
but Bermuda shorts are fine. Clothes
must not be tight or revealing. You must
wear golf or tennis shoes and shoelaces must be kept tied while playing. Socks or footlets
must also be worn. Shirt-tails are to be
worn inside pants or skirts at all times.
(4) In case of
lightning or storms during matches all care and precaution will be taken to
insure the safety of the players. On
matches out of town the students will be returned to school where the coach will
wait with the students until they are picked up. No student will ever be left on their
own. Please be prompt in picking your
child up.
